PRIMARY RELATIONSHIPS

What are your primary relationships?  It is important to identify them because they shape and mold our lives.  Our personal Rules of Life are discerned and framed within the context of our primary relationships. So, ask yourself…

How healthy are my relationships? With my parents? With my children? With my spouse? With my co-workers?

With God?

A Rule of Life enables us to evaluate our primary relationships to see if they are marked with love, honesty, integrity, listening, generosity, and gratitude. Are there any relationships in your life that need adjusting, tweaking, or repairing? May the prayer of St. Francis be your prayer today:

Lord, make me an instrument of your peace.

Where there is hatred, let me sow love.

Where there is injury, pardon.

Where there is doubt, faith.

Where there is despair, hope.

Where there is darkness, light.

Where there is sadness, joy.

O Divine Master,

grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled, as to console;

to be understood, as to understand;

to be loved, as to love.

For it is in giving that we receive.

It is in pardoning that we are pardoned,

and it is in dying that we are born to Eternal Life.

Amen.
